QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

4. Most frequently asked questions about laser facials.

How do the facials (“Triple Facial”) work?
Utilizing a combination of 3 different types of lasers, and 4 different procedures, all layers of the skin are targeted including the top layer: the epidermis and the deep structural layer: the dermis. These procedures are fast and comfortable and cause no significant side effects – that is: NO DOWN – TIME. The patient can continue with normal daily activities without interruption.

30 minutes total time
Procedure #1: Color blending/sun-spots/melasma.
Procedure #2: Facial spider veins, broken capillaries, Rosacea etc.
Procedure #3: Deep collagen rejuvenation/regeneration – wrinkle removal
Procedure #4: Epidermal peel – Accelerated epidermal regeneration

The lasers work by targeting only the specific tissues that need removal or repair, which then mobilizes the body’s own natural resources to heal the targeted tissue. The results are not only spectacular, they are “natural”, as your own body actually heals and repairs itself. If it wasn’t for the fact that a half million dollars worth of high – tech lasers were required to initiate and direct the process, the “triple facial” could actually be called “holistic”!! d

What is a Laser Peel?
One of the 4 procedures produces an “Epidermal peel” that removes – precisely 15 microns! – the most surface layer of the epidermis, along with all its imperfections, discolorations, fine lines, wrinkles, roughness and dullness. This procedure also stimulates a faster cell cycle by which epidermal cells are replaced with younger, healthier cells – completely replacing your epidermis in 3-5 days! (“Accelerated epidermal regeneration”) We call this our “smooth radiance” treatment, because that is exactly what it achieves

How does the collagen regeneration work?
Just the right amount and the right type of laser energy, delivered to exactly the right depth, will stimulate your skin’s fibroblast cells to produce new collagen – young, healthy, firm and toned! Simply put, this treatment removes wrinkles from the “inside out.”

How many facials are recommended?
Of course, it depends on the condition of your skin as well as the end result you want to achieve.

What is important to understand is that with each successive treatment, collagen regeneration will be progressively more effective, because we will be stimulating fibroblasts that are already in a stimulated state. Therefore, the affects are more than just cumulative, and with each new treatment, greater amounts of collagen will be produced over longer periods of time. Thus for maximal effectiveness, a package of 3-6 treatments scheduled 4 weeks apart is recommended.

Another way to put it: You will get 10 – times more out of your second treatment than your first, and 10 – times more out of your third treatment than your second.

Do the facials help with cystic acne?
Absolutely! Using procedures similar to our “triple facial”, bacterial infections in follicles (which are the cause of acne) can be targeted and eliminated. Once the infection is eliminated, the skin can now heal the affected follicles. Therefore, these treatments serve a dual purpose by simultaneously removing active cystic acne while also “remodeling” existing acne scaring and pitting.

Can you treat any type or color of skin?
AMMA has the most advanced, state of the art lasers that are perfectly engineered for all types and colors of skin. From milky – white to dark – rich – black.

Does it hurt and what is the recovery time?
Our lasers are all top of the line and designed with integrated cooling systems that ensure that our patients receive complete and comfortable treatments. Most of our patients feel a little heat or a light tingling or prickly sensation. There is no significant recovery or down time at all. For the week following the procedure, simply taking extra special care of your skin is all that is needed.

What is the difference between a laser and a chemical peel?
In general, deep chemical peels are much more uncomfortable and unpredictable in comparison to laser peels.

Deep chemical peels typically require much more recovery/down time. Our laser facials are much more precise and produce much more predictable results than chemical peel

At times, a light chemical or herbal peel, in the hands of a skilled esthetician may be exactly the right treatment for you. In fact, AMMA’s clinical staff works very closely with Minuet Day Spa’s aestheticians in order to provide patients with the very best ongoing facial maintenance and care.
